Device Tester FAQ
- Is anything recorded or uploaded?
- No. Keystrokes, the camera preview, the microphone level, gamepad input and vibration all stay inside your browser. Nothing is stored or sent to a server, and the camera and mic are released as soon as you press Stop or leave the page.
- Why does a test say it is not supported in my browser?
- Each tester checks for the browser API it needs before running. If the Web Audio, camera/microphone, Gamepad or Vibration API is missing, the tester shows why and its buttons stay disabled instead of failing silently. Camera, microphone and gamepad access also require an https connection.
- Why doesn't the vibration test work on my iPhone or laptop?
- The Vibration API is only implemented by Android browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Samsung Internet. Safari on iPhone and iPad and desktop browsers do not support it. On Android, silent mode or battery saver can also block vibration.
- My gamepad is plugged in, why is it not detected?
- For privacy, browsers only reveal a controller after you press one of its buttons while the page is open. Press any button or move a stick; if it still does not appear, reconnect it or try another USB port or Bluetooth pairing.
- How do I test for keyboard ghosting or n-key rollover?
- Click the keyboard pad and hold several keys at once. Every key the keyboard reports appears under Currently held; keys missing from the list are being dropped. Press Esc and then Tab to move focus out of the pad.
- Why can't I access my camera or microphone?
- Your browser has to grant permission. If you denied it, allow camera and microphone access in the site settings and press Try again. The test also fails if another app, such as a video call, is already using the device.
