Hash Generator
Generate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, and HMAC hashes from text or files.
Text
CRC32 · SHA-1 · SHA-256 · SHA-384 · SHA-512
Paste an expected hash — it lights up the matching row above.
All hashing happens locally with the Web Crypto API — nothing is uploaded.
Hash Generator FAQ
- Is my text or file uploaded anywhere?
- No. Hashes are computed in your browser with the Web Crypto API, so the input never leaves your device.
- Which algorithms are supported?
- SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, plus a CRC32 checksum and keyed HMAC variants of the SHA family.
- How do I compute an HMAC with a hex or Base64 key?
- Open the HMAC tab and switch the key encoding to Hex or Base64; the message can be Text or Hex. Results are checked against the RFC 4231 test vectors for HMAC-SHA-256 and HMAC-SHA-512.
- Why is there no MD5?
- The Web Crypto API does not implement MD5 because it is broken for security purposes. Use SHA-256 for integrity checks instead.
- How do I verify a download checksum?
- Drop the file in, paste the expected hash from the publisher, and the matching algorithm row is highlighted when the values agree.
