ASCII Studio FAQ
- How do I copy ASCII art or save it as a .txt file?
- Use Copy to put the art on your clipboard or .txt to download it as a UTF-8 text file named after your text or image. Trailing spaces and empty rows are trimmed so it pastes cleanly into READMEs, code comments and chat. Both buttons confirm with a message, which is also announced to screen readers.
- Why does my banner look broken when I paste it?
- ASCII art only lines up in a monospaced font. Paste it inside a code block (``` in Markdown, Slack or Discord) or a <pre> tag, and avoid editors that replace runs of spaces or wrap long lines.
- What is the ANSI export for?
- ANSI copies the banner wrapped in terminal colour escape codes (green or amber), ready for shell scripts, CLI splash screens or MOTD files. Pick Mono for plain text without escape codes.
- Which image works best for Image → ASCII?
- High-contrast photos and logos with a plain background. Braille (HD) packs 2×4 dots into each character for the most detail; Characters mode uses a brightness ramp and can add edge glyphs. Adjust brightness, contrast and threshold, or invert for light backgrounds.
- Should I export PNG, SVG or text?
- Text is editable and tiny. SVG stays sharp at any size and keeps the colour you chose. PNG is best for social posts and slides; very large art may be too big for a PNG canvas, in which case lower the size or resolution or use SVG.
- Are my text and images uploaded anywhere?
- No. Fonts are loaded on demand and all rendering, conversion and exporting happens in your browser. Images never leave your device.
