Timestamp Converter FAQ

How does the converter tell seconds from milliseconds?
A whole number with up to 10 digits is read as Unix seconds; longer numbers are read as milliseconds. Negative values (dates before 1970) and fractional seconds such as 1700000000.123 also work. The detected type is shown under the input.
Which date strings can I paste?
Anything your browser's Date parser accepts, such as ISO 8601 (2024-05-01T12:00:00Z) or RFC 2822 (Wed, 01 May 2024 12:00:00 GMT). Strings without a time zone are interpreted in your local zone.
What formats are shown for a timestamp?
Unix seconds and milliseconds, ISO 8601, UTC, local and 24-hour time, date only, time only, relative time, day of week, ISO week number and day of year — each with a copy button.
What do the Now, Start of day, +1h and +1d presets do?
Now fills in the current time. Start of day jumps to local midnight of the date in the input, +1h adds exactly one hour and +1d adds one calendar day (keeping the same wall-clock time across daylight-saving changes). Presets build on whatever is in the input, or on the current time when it is empty, and keep the unit you typed. The ISO, Unix and Unix ms buttons copy the result in one click.
Can I measure the time between two dates?
Yes. The compare section takes two timestamps or date strings and shows the duration between them and which one comes first.
